How often does electrical wiring need to be checked for safety?

Electrical wiring should be checked with a whole-home electrical safety inspection once a year. The most common driver for issues is aging or loosened connections that create heat and arcing, which can start hidden damage before you notice it. An annual inspection also catches added electrical loads, DIY changes, and updates needed to align with the National Electrical Code. Our technicians perform these NEC-aligned inspections and code-correction repairs, and we bring this same approach to homes across the Milwaukee area.

Check sooner if you notice:

  • Warm or discolored outlets or switches
  • Recurring tripped breakers or blown fuses
  • Flickering lights or buzzing from devices
  • Burning odors or visible sparks

For easy upkeep, our Home Protection Plan includes an annual electrical safety inspection (plans start at $19.95/month). Always shut off a suspect circuit and avoid use until a licensed electrician inspects it.
